The successful Tuesdays for Education programme series will be continued in 2024/25 with four events on reading promotion.

The successful Tuesdays for Education programe series is back in 2024/25 with four events on the topic of ‘How can reading promotion be successfully designed? Individual, family and institutional conditions of success’.

Our Tuesdays for Education programe series is aimed at disseminators from educational practice, educational administration, educational policy and the media landscape and takes place once a quarter. The programe series focuses on the exchange between science and practice. In the light of acute challenges such as the merely average results in international large-scale assessment studies, the lagging digitalization of schools in Germany and the shortage of teachers, current topics from the educational context are addressed and discussed. Consisting of a webinar, a short report and a press release, each Tuesdays for Education presents selected findings from our current research as a starting point for a joint discussion on the further development of the school system.

Dates and topics of the four events are: November 5, 2024 ‘How relevant are different individual and social factors for children's reading skills? How well can elementary schools compensate for different starting conditions in an international comparison?’; January 14, 2025 “How can digital-based language support succeed at the beginning of primary school?”; April 8, 2025 “What contribution can families make to promoting reading skills in their children?” and July 8, 2025 ’What about school quality and school development in elementary schools and how relevant are they for students’ reading competence?’
