For the last lecture in the IFS Lecture series "Orientation to the average was yesterday: What Empirical Educational Research Says About Teaching Children with Heterogeneous Learning Pre-conditions" on July 6, Professor Hilde van Keer from Ghent University in Belgium was our guest. She reported in her lecture "All aboard?! The challenge of differentiation or individualization for diverse learners: Reflections from the field of reading" about challenges for empirical educational research of differentiation and individualization for heterogeneous learners and presented the situation on reading literacy in Flanders based on international comparative studies. In doing so, she presented results of a systematic review on what constitutes effective reading instruction and discussed ways in which effective teaching in the field of reading could be promoted. The presentation content as well as implications for research and practice were finally discussed in the plenary session.

We would like to thank all participants for the successful conclusion of the event series in this summer semester!
