Prof. Dr. Silvia-Iris Beutel was part of an expert group that, under the leadership of Dr. Martina Diedrich and Prof. Dr. Kai Maaz and with the support of the Bertelsmann Foundation, developed key recommendations for a contemporary culture of learning and assessment in schools. The central question is: How can learning and assessment be designed as a coherent process that prepares young people – both academically and personally – for the challenges of today and tomorrow?
The nine recommendations address all levels of the school system: from classroom practice and assessment formats to structural and policy-related frameworks. Contributors included experts from educational research, school practice, administration, and education policy – among them representatives from the DIPF, TU Dortmund, Heidelberg University, and various state institutes and ministries.
The publication sends a clear message: shaping the future of education requires shared responsibility, the courage to change, and a consistent focus on meaningful learning processes – for schools that empower all children and adolescents and support them in their development.
