Aus dem EPKO-Projekt ist eine Praxishandreichung für den Unterricht zum Thema Civic Literacy und dem politischen Wissen von Schüler*innen erschienen.
Dr. Pascal Alscher and Professor Nele McElvany have published a practical guide for teaching on the topic of ‘Civic Literacy: Political Knowledge of Students in Lower Secondary School’ from the project ‘Study on the development of political and civic competence in adolescence’ (EPKO). The analyses show that students with a low socio-economic status and students with an immigration background have a lower average level of political knowledge. The results emphasize the importance of effectively teaching civic literacy in the school context in order to ensure equal educational opportunities and promote political knowledge. In the practical guide, three sample items from the knowledge test are provided as copy templates for joint discussion with students in the classroom.
