“Klasse!Digital” shows how digital school development succeeds – with a focus on local context, practice links, and effective leadership teams.

Silvia-Iris Beutel, Martin Goy, Christiane Ruberg, and Falko Schumpich present the school development program “Klasse!Digital” in the edited volume “Bildungsforschung und Bildungspraxis in der Metropole Ruhr. Schule und Lehrkräftebildung gemeinsam im regionalen Kontext entwickeln.” The program supports schools in the Ruhr region in their digital transformation. Key themes include the importance of the local social context and the collaboration between academia and educational practice. The accompanying research shows that the program’s adaptability to the specific needs of individual schools is a crucial factor for success. Work in steering groups proves particularly effective when school leaders experience genuine relief through their involvement. The authors recommend stronger facilitation and clearer communication of program goals to enhance the effectiveness of school development processes.
