On September 12, the IGLU/PIRLS consortium met to discuss details of the field test for the next primary school reading survey “IGLU/PIRLS 2026”.

The topic of the consortium meeting were the instruments for the field test, which will be conducted internationally in March 2025. In Germany, the survey for Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2026 will take place completely digitally for the first time. Not only will the reading skills of children in year 4 be recorded using tasks to be completed on laptops, but all contextual information will also be administered digitally using questionnaires for pupils, parents, teachers and school administrators.

The scientific consortium of PIRLS 2026 consists of the following project partners:

Prof. Dr. Andreas Frey (Goethe University Frankfurt/Main)
Prof. Dr. Frank Goldhammer (Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education)
Prof. Dr. Anita Schilcher (University Regensburg)
Prof. Dr. Tobias Stubbe (Georg-August-University Göttingen)
